About Us

Smith's Rustic Ranch, LLC is a generational homesteading farm. It was originally a homestead in 1837 and was awarded a  Hoosier Homestead award, Centennial Award, in 1977 by the State of Indiana.

 

Our farm started out as a crop farm with sheep, chickens, Shetland ponies and mules, and a rental house for the farm hand. In 1995 this farm expanded from a horse ranch to a homesteading farm with many different projects going on. We have locally grown produce, chickens with fresh eggs for sale, turkeys, and beekeeping.

 

They became beekeepers in July 2000, lifetime members of the Indiana Beekeepers Association and attended Beekeeping School in Carmel, IN in February. They mentor new and existing beekeepers, offer educational opportunities about beekeeping and homesteading, classes and activities.

​​​New Addition - Country Grill Kitchen

We expanded our business in 2023 adding a Serve Safe certified, cottage bakery and kitchen. We offer a variety of homemade baked goods, pastries, mixes, jams & jellies, farm fresh eggs and produce. We offer seasonal and holiday specials and take special requests. Orders can be placed online or by contacting us directly.

Future plans are to add a store front with a larger kitchen, schedule live events, family activities, space to reserve for business meetings, family reunions, birthday parties and special occasions. We are working on the construction at this time. We hope to have a family friendly agribusiness; a place to bring kids for educational opportunities, entertainment and games, special activities, bird watching, reading a book, holiday fun, and for businesses or entrepreneurs to meet with a potential clients, and a social place to meet with friends.
